Reverse Engineering Process

Micro-credential

Reverse engineering is the process of analysing an existing product or system’s design and functionality and recreating it in a digital space to create a similar or improved version of that product or system. Building further on the Introduction to Reverse Engineering micro-credential, this micro-credential will provide learners with the background of how data is collected prior to being processed and manipulated for an end use.

What you will learn

Upon completion of this micro-credential, learners will be able to:

  • identify and manipulate point clouds
  • apply manual methods or 3D scanning to set up and reverse engineer items
  • convert and manipulate point cloud data into a solid body for machining, 3D printing or quality checks
  • evaluate and validate the accuracy of reverse engineered models against original objects.
