Micro-credential overview

As demand for production increases, companies are turning to automation to accelerate their ability to produce goods.  The way we design the goods we make can help streamline automated processes.  This micro-credential explores how the automated assembly of parts, transportation and storage of components, and handling processes can be improved through effective manufacturing design.

Upon completion of this micro-credential, learners will be able to:

  • identify automation opportunities for improving product and equipment manufacturing, encompassing product consistency, design, productivity, efficiency, workplace safety, and sustainability
  • evaluate product and/or production processes to identify parts suitable for automation and those requiring redesign prior to automation
  • develop a strategic automation proposal that encompasses manufacturing technologies, addresses product and equipment manufacturing concerns and anticipates potential issues.
