SUEZ signs MOU bringing smart cities expertise to Aerotropolis
Resource management company SUEZ has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Western City & Aerotropolis Authority to help bring its global capabilities in world’s best practice resource management, smart city and energy solutions to the Western Parkland City.
The signing took place on 1 July at the Australian Embassy in Paris, hosted by Australian Ambassador to France, His Excellency Brendan Berne.
Signatories included SUEZ's global Chief Executive Officer Bertrand Camus, Chair Dr Jennifer Westacott AO and Deputy Chair Geoff Roberts AM of the Western City & Aerotropolis Authority.
SUEZ Director Marketing, Communications and National Key Accounts, Justin Frank said the company seeks to play an integral role in the master planning of what will become Australia's third largest city.
"SUEZ has global expertise in master planning, critical infrastructure and resource management for smart cities and the Aerotropolis is an exciting opportunity for us to bring this knowledge to Australia," said Justin.
The company will advise on leading edge innovations and technologies to optimise the sustainable management of resources at the Aerotropolis, from recycling and reuse through to energy creation and smart water networks.
"We have a unique chance here to establish the Western Parklands City internationally as a shining example of a more circular and integrated approach to resource management," he added.
SUEZ has proven expertise in pioneering smart cities technologies in Europe, including a 12-year, €105 million project transforming the French city of Dijon.
The company also leads the world in the application of smart meter technologies, with more than 4 million active devices globally.
In Australia, it supplies more than 7 million residents with water daily and services over four million Australians with waste collection services each week.
The Aerotropolis which is adjacent to the new $5.3b Western Sydney International Airport, is a joint initiative by the NSW and Australian Governments, aimed at attracting national and international investment and delivering education opportunities, enhanced liveability and 200,000 jobs across the new city.
